I enjoy mowing. Which is pretty funny because I can remember for the longest time dreading it! But now it's somewhat therapeutic, almost like meditating. Saturday morning I decided to gas up the mower and get my yard mowed. I was thinking if I started early enough I'd escape the heat. I was wrong. But still I pulled the string and started walking.
About 5 1/2 neatly aligned rows into my massive back yard I happened to look down and see a little bird...Six inches in front of my still running mower. I then shut it off, and the bird still just sat there. As I looked closer I realized that the bird's eyes were not exposed, and it couldn't see(apparently by the way it sat in front of my loud mower, it couldn't hear either). I moved it aside, about 2 rows over so it could keep me company during my walking.
In addition to the relaxation I also like messing with my neighbor a bit. We live in a duplex and so the I mow from the sprinklers (center of our 2 places) straight back...Most of the time. The last 2 times I have mowed I leave an extra 2 or 3 strips, and I am sure he appreciates it. Besides, his yard isn't as big as ours.
