Chew on this...Lunchtime post.

Has anyone else opened a new package of deli meat from the store, completely hungry and thought it smelt like a huge fart? Seriously, I just went to make my delicious turkey and cheese sandwich and the smell that lingered out when I opened the package just about made me loose my appetite.

That is neither here nor there. I've got a ton on my mind and only 15 minutes to type, so here it goes:

We moved into our new duplex, and it is completely awesome. I'll post a few pictures tonight on this post when I get off work. Jordan absolutely loves it as do the rest of us. Except there is one huge problem-they don't allow cats.

Those of you that have known me for a few years know that I absolutely love my cats. They are a huge part of my life, in fact I've had them the entire time I have lived on my own. I have been trying to think of plans to hide them in the garage during daylight hours and allow them to come into the house at night to avoid detection from the landlord. As I think about it that's not fair to them. My mother said they could stay there (although I wasn't sure of the sincerity of her voice), but they'd have to live with my sisters cat Lucy, who happens to have all her claws. I don't think it'd be a big deal but I feel extremely guilty thinking about not having them live with me. Stupid? Maybe. I'm all ears.

I'm pretty sure today is Halloween, and the kids are completely ready. Well, I should say Jordan is. He is planning on going as Tyrone, an animated moose on the show The Backyardigans on Nick Jr. The costume is killer, he looks like such a big kid and it kinda freaks me out! Bella is going as a bunny rabbit...Two words: f-ing cute. I think we are going to an indoor trick or treat at aunt Sadie's work tonight after I get off, and then J will surely make the rounds with my cousins. The holidays are so much fun with children, it all starts to make sense. The blanks start to fill in and I realize that this is what it's about. Waking up to make bottles, enforcing the corner (Jordan was too hardcore for the time-out chair, so we had to get tough), teaching him to trick-or-treat and late nights in the rocker with my little girl. Life is good.

This weekend we get to go see The Josh Davis Band and Towncrier in Omaha! I can't hardly wait...We get to celebrate Wendy's birthday in definite rock-star style! Stop by later to see some photos!

The ever changing, never ending list.

I hear a lot about bucket lists. I dunno, maybe I have one. More of my 'lists' are current lists, 5 year lists, 25 year lists...but I guess they all could be bucket lists because we don't know how much time we've got at the dance. Over the past 2 years my wants have drastically changed. I've been focusing on simpler things, true things. Not reaching so much for more, just trying to enjoy what is here more. That goes for family, friends, opportunity, relationships...not material things. (Except I really really want a canoe or kayak so I can get out on the water soon) Is it possible to make a list that won't change?  Is it possible to remain true to the values of a 34 year old father, when those very values seem to have shifted based on life experiences? Are the items on my list too specific? Maybe... Love Honesty Compassion Health Fun More to come on this one I'm pretty sure.

Take us out to the ball game.

Last night we ventured over to the Explorers baseball game after dinner, it was great. Jordan talked to the X's pitching crew out in the bull-pin for a while, and they ended up giving him a ball. He's such a sports guy! The pitcher that gave him the ball said, "Can you give it a throw?" and so he did...over his head out into left field! Of course my diva Bell had more fun doing spins and drinking a slush, but that's all good. I love my family.
